Getting involved with a small group is vital to growing as a disciple. Small groups of Christians caring for one another, praying, studying and serving together are a foundation of Methodism. When John Wesley first began the Methodist movement in England in the 18th century, he formed small groups called bands and classes whose members met weekly to hold each other accountable in love and to discuss the state of their souls.
Today we need that same kind of supportive community as we journey together on the path of discipleship. Small groups have proven to be the best way for people to make personal connections in the church and to grow spiritually.
Sometimes people are hesitant about joining a group for the first time. Our trimester approach to group life here at Centennial provides opportunities to try out a group and see if it’s a fit. If doesn’t work out you are free to bow out and try another group. There’s nothing to lose, and a lot to gain.
Bible studies and book discussions, music groups, service and hands-on mission groups, sports and hobby groups – these are just some of the ways we are Searching, Serving and Celebrating here at Centennial. Click here to find a group or here to browse the current Group Life Brochure. New groups can begin at any time. If you have an idea for a group you would like to start, contact Donna Draeger or Janet Folsom and we will assist you with resources and leader training and help you get the word out and invite others!
